When you first contact us, we will have a brief phone conversation to explore your needs and whether we can fulfil them. If we proceed, we will send you questionnaires to complete and arrange an appointment to meet with the child or young person for initial assessment. This can take place at their school, your home, or our office. The meeting with the child or young person typically lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours, with breaks included to ensure they remain comfortable and engaged. Depending on the nature of the assessment, we will also speak with parents, caregivers, and relevant staff at the child’s school to gather a comprehensive understanding of their current situation, needs, and strengths. Following the assessment, we aim to provide a detailed report of our findings and recommendations within two to four weeks.
While we generally prefer to see the child or young person face-to-face to gain a better understanding of their context, there are some instances where remote assessments can be offered. Whether this is suitable depends on the nature of the assessment and the age of the child, as remote assessments are typically not appropriate for children under the age of 7. If you're considering a remote assessment, we can discuss your specific needs to determine if this approach is suitable.
Our fees vary depending on the scope and depth of the assessment, as well as whether the service is provided within the UK or abroad. For an hour-long online consultation, including a brief follow-up consultation record, we typically charge £110. For other services, we tailor our fees based on your specific needs and will provide a clear breakdown before proceeding. Please feel free to contact us for a personalised quote.
You will not be left alone after you received your report. We will offer you a follow-up meeting to discuss the report and recommendations. We can also offer ongoing support to help implement strategies at home or in school. This support can be arranged separately from the assessment itself, tailored to meet your specific needs.
We offer multilingual support in English, German, Turkish, Urdu, Bengali and Arabic. Depending on the language required, you will work with a psychologist and, if necessary, an assistant psychologist. Additionally, we can communicate with parents in their preferred language while conducting the actual assessment of their child in English. For children being assessed in English, we require that they have attended an English-speaking school for at least two years to ensure the assessment is fair and valid. Our approach is highly flexible and can be adapted to suit individual needs.
At Aslan Psychology, we do not currently carry out assessments for autism spectrum condition or ADHD. However, we confidently recommend the team at Umid, based in Hampshire, for such assessments. You can reach out to them directly here: https://umid.co.uk/.
