Like a lion championing its cub, we are dedicated to empowering children and young people by identifying and removing barriers to learning, building on their strengths, and helping them discover meaningful opportunities to thrive.
Our founder, Dr. Esther Aslan, draws inspiration from the Turkish word ‘Aslan’, meaning lion—a symbol of strength, protection, and guidance. This ethos reflects our commitment to supporting children and young people, much like lions nurture their cubs as they grow and develop. We integrate this guiding philosophy with evidence-based practices to deliver tailored and impactful services.
Our Services
Based out of our office in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, we work across Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hampshire and London. We offer assessments and consultations in schools, homes, and our office.
When a child or young person is struggling, it can be difficult to know how to help. An assessment is simply a way to look beneath the surface, understand how they learn, and find practical ways to make school and home life easier.
Is an assessment right for your child?
You might consider an assessment if a child, young person, or young adult (up to the age of 25) is:
- Finding it hard to keep up at school or university, despite extra help.
- Struggling to focus, stay organised, or manage their emotions.
- Showing signs of school anxiety or low self-confidence.
- Experiencing unique learning challenges after an illness or an acquired brain injury.
How It Works: From First Contact to Practical Solutions
To make things as stress-free and transparent as possible, we break the entire process down into four clear, manageable steps:
1. Initial Contact & Triage
When you reach out via our website, we will arrange a brief, informal triage chat. This allows us to understand your main concerns and ensure we are the right service to help. If we can support you, we will send over our terms of business and consent forms so you can review them and decide if you would like to proceed.
2. Gathering the Picture (Before the Session)
Once you decide to go ahead, we gather a complete background profile before the in-person meeting. We conduct informal conversations and share straightforward questionnaires with the adults who know the young person best - both at home and at school.
3. The Assessment Day
Meeting a psychologist can feel daunting, so we focus entirely on keeping things calm and low-pressure.
- Where: We can meet at the child's school, in your home, or at our office space.
- The Style: We start with a casual chat or a simple game. We break tasks into small chunks, take plenty of breaks, and focus on what the young person can do, building on their natural strengths.
4. Practical Outcomes (What You Get)
Afterward, you and the school (always with parental permission) receive a straightforward, formal written report. This isn't just a list of scores; it is a roadmap full of doable, evidence-based strategies:
- For School: Ready-to-use classroom adjustments and/or the official evidence required for exam accommodations
- For Home: Practical, everyday routines to help handle homework, transitions, reduce mental fatigue, and support emotional regulation.
Who Can Commission an Assessment?
We accept direct instructions from a variety of settings and professionals:
- Families: Parents, carers, or guardians seeking independent clarity on their child’s learning needs.
- Schools & Colleges: SENCOs, teachers, or inclusion teams looking to inform school-based interventions.
- Young Adults (18–25): Self-referrals for individuals navigating higher education, apprenticeships, or workplace adjustments.
- Case Managers, Solicitors, & Deputies: For ongoing claims, insurance-funded rehabilitation, or Court of Protection deputy appointments - particularly when supporting rehabilitation after an acquired brain injury.
-
Multilingual Support: We want every family to feel heard and supported. As the
qualified psychologist, Esther holds ultimate clinical responsibility for the work and is
supported by a team of assistant psychologists who all hold psychology degrees with
Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR). Spanning different languages under Esther’s
direct oversight, this teamwork enables us to provide thorough, accessible
assessments to a broader range of communities across the UK and abroad in
English, German, Turkish, Arabic, Bengali, and Urdu.
Offering specialised services to international schools, including assessments, staff training, and consultation to address the needs of a global student body. We cater to American or British curricula across Asia and the Middle East.
An acquired brain injury can affect a child or young person’s cognitive, emotional, and social development, creating complex barriers to learning and school participation.
I have many years of experience in this field, providing support for children and young people up to the age of 25. My work is routinely integrated into larger, multidisciplinary treatment packages, ensuring consistent collaboration with the wider rehabilitation team.
Services for Case Managers, Deputies, and Solicitors
I accept instructions from Case Managers, Solicitors, and Deputies managing ongoing claims, insurance-funded rehabilitation, or deputy appointments.
I am available for:
- One-Off Assessments: Independent evaluations to profile cognitive, emotional, and learning needs, providing educational recommendations for school or litigation purposes.
- Ongoing Treatment & Intervention: Long-term, targeted support acting as the treating Educational Psychologist (EP) to help the young person rebuild skills and adapt to their educational environment. (and vice versa)
If you are a young person, a parent, a carer, or a school and would like to read and understand about the role of Education Psychologists (EP) in multiple languages,
here is a very helpful online resource created by EDPSY that explains what an EP can offer and provide.
